Football roundup: Vintage gets first win of season; Napa stays winless despite good offensive showing

The Napa and Vintage football teams both were on the road on Friday night.
Vintage 26 Lincoln 21
The Crushers traveled to Stockton on Friday night and came away with their first victory of the season.
Vintage (1-2) scored the game’s first touchdown when sophomore quarterback Jacob Aaron connected with Cutler Low for a touchdown of 45 or so yards at the 8:20 mark of the first quarter.
At the 11:20 mark of the second quarter Michael Webber scampered into the end zone on a 28-yard rush. Also in the second quarter with 8:23 left Villiami Schaumkel scored on a rush.
The final Crusher score came with 6:05 left till half when Aaron found Josh Robert for 30-yard touchdown pass.
With 50 seconds left until the half Lincoln found the scoreboard.
The second half was all Trojans as they scored 14 points, but had dug themselves a hole too big to overcome.
Vintage will host Bellarmine College Prep of San Jose next Friday night at Napa Memorial Stadium to wrap up the non league schedule.
Nevada Union 59 Napa 34
Napa took the long three-hour plus drive to Grass Valley on Friday night.
It was a good showing for the Grizzly offense as they put up 34 points. Gunner Schoeps, Brock Bowers, and Kalani Posey were all key contributors on the night.
The defense, however, gave up 55-plus points for the third week in a row.
Napa (0-3) will host Archbishop Riordan-San Francisco next Saturday night at Napa Memorial Stadium.
