Felo hurls first complete game shutout in franchise history as Silverados roll to sweep of Vallejo
By Geoffrey Safford – Napa Silverados
Franchise history was made on Friday night at Your Name Here Ballpark in Napa as
Billy Felo became the first pitcher in the history of the franchise to throw a complete game shutout in an 8-0 victory over the Vallejo Admirals. Felo struck out eight batters in those innings allowing just one walk. The Pennsylvania native threw 93 of his 134 pitches for strikes.
Felo credited a lot of his success to his teammates playing behind him.
“I have to give Nicco Toni credit for calling a great game for me tonight,” Felo said. “Having a great defense behind me tonight made my job easier. It means a lot to perform well in the middle of a playoff push. I just want to help my club win in any way I can.”
Felo got plenty of offensive support as the Silverados had fourteen hits for the second consecutive night. Ray Jones finished with a three night for the second straight day finishing 3-for-5. Jones was 7-for-9 in the series with four runs scored.
Napa stormed out of the gate in the first with a five-run rally. Toni’s three run shot in the inning was the highlight of the inning. It was the tenth home run of the season for the Sonoma State product.
Josh Montelongo tripled home a run in the seventh inning and later scored on a wild pitch to round out the scoring for Napa. Montelongo finished 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Napa (26-36) climbed to within three games of the Pittsburg Diamonds (29-33) for the final playoff position in the Pacific Association after action on Friday. Sonoma (42-20) leads the San Rafael Pacifics (40-22) by two in the race at the top of the standings.
