Having a leadoff hitter who has some pop is a great way to gain a lead in a game. It can be a catalyst for the whole lineup.
It’s also nice when this player is one of the main reasons the team goes unbeaten during the week. All of this is what Vintage senior shortstop Blake Porter did to win Athlete of the Week from April 20th-26th. This is the third time this season Vintage baseball has won the award, but it’s the first time we’ve given it to Porter.
